Homemade air freshener in the toilet with your own hands

Most people use store-bought sprays as restroom air fresheners. This causes irreparable harm to the environment, and the effect does not last long.

Air fresheners are harmful to the environment and your health.

To make an inexpensive homemade toilet odor freshener with your own hands, take a clean spray bottle and fill it with clean boiled water.

Mix in a tablespoon of vinegar and soda.

Spray it all onto the toilet bowl, onto the walls, working everything with a brush.

This cleans the toilet and eliminates unpleasant odors. The composition does not contain aromatic oils and is completely safe for asthmatics and allergy sufferers.

If you add lavender or lemon or orange oil to the container, the mixture will not only eliminate odors and disinfect, but also smell. The mixture should be used after each visit to the toilet.

Lemon juice flavoring

Instead of oils, you can use freshly squeezed lemon or citrus juice. Mix a few drops into water to give it a long-lasting, strong aroma.

People who are allergic to the scents from essential oils can use this recipe. Its advantages are that:

  • The product has an antiseptic effect.

  • Absorbs unpleasant odors.

Suitable for allergy sufferers and families with small children. To make a cleaner with your own hands, you need: Pour water into a container, add a spoonful of vinegar and soda. Shake.

The headache of every housewife is to get rid of unpleasant odors, especially in the toilet room. Catch, my dears, a great idea for deodorizing and disinfecting the toilet using effervescent scent bombs!

The idea works great, I’ve already tried it :) Making bombs is quite simple, using them is a pleasure :) The toilet is clean without much effort and the toilet room smells amazing! There are three recipes for you, choose whichever one you like best :) Enjoy watching!

Toilet freshener bomb recipes

I'll start from the very beginning simple recipe– in fact, I used this recipe to make my own bombs :)

For production you need:

  • 1 and 1/3 cups baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 30 drops lavender essential oil
  • 30 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 30 drops lemon essential oil

Choose essential oils with persistent odors and antibacterial effects. I took essential oils of lavender, lemon and tea tree.

Mix citric acid and soda, add essential oils, stir. Now you need to moisten the mixture to a state at which you can sculpt from it :) The mixture should not be too wet, add the liquid carefully from the spray bottle a little at a time to avoid a reaction between the soda and the acid. We sprayed it, mixed it, tested it with our fingers to see if it could stick together, etc.

The mixture prepared in this way is compacted into ice molds and left to dry for 6 hours. After drying, put the pieces into a glass container with a lid and send them to the toilet room :) You can use them :)

How to use it - I think it’s clear :) You can simply throw the effervescent bomb into the toilet, or you can put it in the flush tank and after a few minutes drain the water from it. The result is a clean toilet and fragrant air in the toilet room!

The second recipe is from Sarah Lipoff (savvysugar.com). Here the recipe also contains vinegar and hydrogen peroxide, which will further clean and disinfect the toilet.

You will need:

  • 1 cup soda
  • 1/4 cup citric acid
  • 0.5 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hydrogen peroxide
  • 15-20 drops of essential oils

Mix soda with citric acid. Mix vinegar and peroxide in a small container and add dropwise to the main mixture throughout the entire volume while stirring. Next, add essential oils and mix thoroughly.

Place a teaspoon of the mixture onto a sheet of parchment. Leave to dry for at least four hours.

You can use it! This is wonderful!

And the last recipe is from Martha Stewart (marthastewart.com). Her version of fizzy bombs also contains corn starch, which holds all the ingredients together well.

A restroom is a room in an apartment or house that is visited by all people living in the home almost most often. Therefore, it would be useful to make sure that doing this is more pleasant. This is not only about the interior of the plumbing unit and the equipment used. It is equally important to eliminate the unpleasant odor that the toilet may emit - homemade fresheners will help you effectively deal with it.

Making your own air fresheners

Toilet bowl block

Household chemical stores offer many ready-made air fresheners, the prices of which are very affordable. But what good housewife would refuse to take on making them herself, avoiding the use of chemicals dangerous to the body? Moreover, this process will take little time and money.

Let's look at how to make a toilet freshener with your own hands. The instructions describing the process are not much different from the recipe for making any culinary masterpiece, with the exception of the final result.

So:

  1. First you need to pour 20 g of gelatin with a glass of cold water so that it dissolves.

  1. At the same time, in another container you need to mix two tablespoons of salt and soda, then add food coloring to the resulting mixture. In principle, it is not necessary to add color to an air freshener, but the finished unit, if painted in a bright color, will have an attractive appearance in addition to a pleasant smell.

  1. After this, mix the resulting mixtures and add vinegar (3 tablespoons is enough).

  1. The source of the smell will be natural essential oil in the amount of 40 drops, which should also be poured into the preparation of the future freshener.

  1. All that remains is to fill a suitable mold with the solution and place it in the refrigerator to harden. After 6 hours, remove the finished block and cut it with a knife into pieces of suitable size.

Advice!
You can immediately pour the flavored gelatin mixture into an ice container.
This way you don’t have to cut the layer into pieces, and each block will turn out smooth and beautiful.

  1. You can install it using a container from a previously purchased magazine unit. It is necessary to store spare pieces in the refrigerator, wrapping them in cling film or cellophane to prevent the essential oils from eroding.

The resulting homemade toilet bowl fresheners have many advantages that distinguish them from purchased products:

  • fill the air in the toilet with a pleasant aroma;
  • adsorb unpleasant odors generated after visiting the restroom;
  • have antiseptic properties, destroy microorganisms dangerous to humans;
  • whitens the surface of the toilet and prevents the formation of mineral deposits;
  • do not harm health, since all natural ingredients are used in production.

Disposable Scent Balls

Using homemade gel blocks certainly allows you to fill your restroom with a pleasant aroma. But they have one drawback: each time you need to decide how to get the freshener out of the toilet. Despite the simplicity of this operation, it gives little pleasure.

Homemade disposable soluble beads will help you avoid the problems described above. Once in the water, they enter into a chemical reaction with it and release substances that not only deodorize the air, but also disinfect the surface of the plumbing fixture.

Let's take a closer look at how to make these toilet bombs with your own hands:

  1. Option one. You need a glass of soda, half a glass of citric acid and aromatic oils that have persistent odors and an antiseptic effect (lavender, mint, lemon, and so on).

The manufacturing process is simple, but care must be taken. Mix the dry powders with each other, add aromatic oils, and then begin to moisturize gradually and very carefully. It is better to do this with a spray bottle in order to more accurately dose the amount of liquid.

As soon as the soda and lemon stick together, do not add any more water, but place the mixture in ice molds, seal and leave to harden for 7-8 hours.

Note!
While working, make sure that grains do not get into your nose, mouth or eyes.
If this happens, immediately rinse your mucous membranes with plenty of water and seek medical attention.

The freshener is easy to use. You just need to throw a bomb into the toilet bowl or flush cistern. The water will acquire a pleasant aroma, the unpleasant odor and microbes will disappear.

  1. Option two. Here, in addition to the components listed in the previous case, you will need half a teaspoon of vinegar and a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide.
The preparation is also not much different. A solution of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide must be added drop by drop to the mixture of soda and acid until the solid particles begin to stick to each other. In the end, all that remains is to add flavorings to the mixture and spread the raw materials into molds for hardening.
  2. Option three. You need soda and citric acid in the same proportions, corn starch in the amount of 2 cups and flavoring.
As in previous cases, you need to mix everything, then carefully moisten it until you can hold the composition together. Once the bombs have hardened, they can be used.

Advice!
If you store prepared pops in an open jar in the toilet, then, among other things, they will flavor the air.

Air freshener in the restroom

Most people deal with unpleasant odors in plumbing areas using commercial sprays. But their refreshing effect does not last long, and they cause considerable harm to the environment.

There are several options:

  1. A clean spray bottle should be filled with clean boiled water, then add one tablespoon of vinegar and the same amount of soda. All this must be thoroughly mixed and used.
In addition to effectively removing unpleasant odors, this mixture has an antiseptic effect. You can spray it directly into the toilet bowl. In addition, due to the absence of any flavorings, the composition is completely safe for people suffering from allergies.
  2. Pour water into a container and add a small amount of strong-smelling essential oil of lemon, orange or lavender. The resulting composition should be sprayed into the toilet after each visit.

By the way, instead of aromatic oils, you can also use freshly squeezed citrus juice, a few drops of which, added to water, will give the latter a strong and lasting aroma.
